C.W. Post Offers On-Site M.B.A. at Northrop Grumman
Global defense firm's employees can earn master of business administration degree at company's Bethpage facility
January 19, 2005 - Employees at the Northrop Grumman Corporation in Bethpage won't have to go far to earn a Master of Business Administration degree. The C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University will begin offering its AACSB International-accredited on-site M.B.A. program at Northrop Grumman's Bethpage campus in January 2005.
"Northrop Grumman's selection of our M.B.A. program for its employees represents yet another milestone in the continuing growth of our highly successful on-site M.B.A. program offered to major corporations," says Salvatore F. Cordo, C.W. Post's M.B.A. Director. "Our extensive experience in presenting relevant, high-quality M.B.A. programs well serve the needs of sponsoring firms and their employees alike. Hundreds of students have graduated from this program and we have consistently received high levels of student satisfaction." Other notable on-site M.B.A. program sponsors have included Symbol Technologies, Verizon and Olympus America.
Students will enroll in the three-year program as a cohort, meaning that members of each class will take all their courses together as a team. Each class will be capped at 30 students to ensure personalized attention is maintained. Two classes will be offered each semester, along with an accelerated course on either Friday or Saturday each academic year of the program.
"This is a great opportunity for our employees to take advantage of our education assistance program and not have to travel to another place to attend classes," said Anthony Piazza, vice president and chief financial officer, Airborne Early Warning and Electronic Warfare Systems, the Northrop Grumman unit based in Bethpage. "From the company's point of view, it's another way to develop highly skilled, well-rounded employees. When coupled with on-the-job training, employees will have the tools and skills needed to ensure the future growth of the company as well as their own careers."
Graduates of C.W. Post's other on-site M.B.A. programs have reaped significant benefits from their M.B.A. Cordo points out that 93 percent of one firm's employees who graduated from the on-site M.B.A. program between 2000 and 2003 have been promoted. "Their firms have recognized and benefited from the additional value that C.W. Post graduates bring to their companies," said Cordo. The value of C.W. Post's M.B.A. programs is recognized through its accreditation by the elite AACSB International, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
"We looked closely at several offerings for our on-site M.B.A. program and determined that C.W. Post's curriculum was the best fit for us for several reasons," said Piazza. "For one, it is a comprehensive, challenging curriculum. More importantly, perhaps, we judged that its course of study is more in sync with the business world as we experience it, specifically in today's global economy."
The C.W. Post College of Management offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with majors in finance, international business, marketing, management and management information systems; an acclaimed 36-to-48 credit Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree; a one-year Accelerated International M.B.A., and a dual J.D./M.B.A. degree offered in concert with Touro Law Center. The College of Management is also home to the School of Professional Accountancy, which offers bachelor's and master's degree programs in accountancy and taxation, and the School of Public Service, which has undergraduate and graduate degrees in criminal justice, health care administration, public administration and social work.
