Miriam Burns to Conduct at
C.W. Post Chamber Music Festival

Celebrated Conductor will lead over 100 Festival Participants in Grand Finale Performance

Brookville, NY--Renowned conductor Miriam Burns will conduct the grand finale concert of the 23rd Annual C.W. Post Chamber Music Festival at the North Shore High School Auditorium on Friday, July 30, 2004. 

The performance, which is titled, "Orchestral Music for a Summer Evening," will be performed by the C.W. Post Chamber Music Festival Chamber Orchestra and the winners of the 2004 Festival Concerto Competition. The program includes orchestral music of Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Faure and concertos by Bruch, Schumann and Mendelssohn. The concert will also include winners from the 2004 Festival Concerto Competition: Robert Chan, piano; Alice Levine, cello and Earl Manieen, violin, as well as two student conductors from the Festival's conducting program: Matthew Oberstein, fellowship conductor and Alondra de la Parra, student conductor. The final selection will include over 100 festival participants. 

Burns is one of the Cover Conductors on staff of the New York Philharmonic; the Music Director/Conductor of the Lawton Philharmonic (OK), Kenosha Symphony (WI) and the Orchestra of the Redeemer in New York City. She has received conducting awards from the Aspen Music Festival and the Conductors Guild and received an Artist Diploma from the prestigious Yale School of Music.

The performance is scheduled for 8 p.m. at the North Shore High School Auditorium, 450 Glen Cove Avenue in Glen Head. General admission $12; seniors and students $8. For further information or advance ticket sales call the Festival Office at 516-299-2103.
