Victoria and Stephen Murphy Music Room Dedicated
A beautiful new classroom for music courses was unveiled at a dedication on November 3, 2004 in the Fine Arts Center at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville.
The new classroom, named “Victoria and Stephen Murphy Music Room,” was made possible by a generous gift from Victoria Murphy and her husband, Stephen, who are longtime benefactors of the C.W. Post Campus.
Victoria graduated Magna Cum Laude from the C.W. Post Campus in 1991 with her Bachelor’s degree in Music. Since then, she and Stephen have been extraordinary supporters of the Music Department and its many talented students. Victoria is a member of the C.W. Post Council of Overseers.
During her career, which focused upon music, Victoria performed as a mezzo soprano soloist with the New York Virtuosi Chamber Symphony, LaMama, and Operaworks, among other groups. Her background also includes serving as a producer and performer with the Manhasset Bay Opera Association. In 2001, Victoria was honored with the Mary M. Lai Model of Faith Award from the C.W. Post Campus. Stephen is the President of S.V. Murphy & Co., Inc., an investment banking firm specializing in mergers and acquisitions. Vicki and Stephen established the Victoria Murphy Vocal Music Scholarship in 1998.
