| March 5, 2002 -- While the memory of many New Year's resolutions
may be fading away, the Personal Enrichment Institute at the C.W.
Post Campus of Long Island University may help revive those of women
who vowed to get control of their finances or to explore a new career.
The Institute, part of the C.W. Post School of Continuing Studies,
is offering programs through which adult learners can explore a
variety of useful and interesting topics at convenient dates and
times.
On March 18, a seminar on "Women and Divorce: Financial Planning"
will help women navigate this difficult terrain. A panel of women
experts in law, accounting, and finance will offer their perspective
on financial planning, understanding the legal process as it relates
to marital property, child custody, alimony, tax issues, pensions,
insurance, and other topics. A question and answer period will be
included. The seminar will run 7 to 10 p.m. and tuition is $30,
plus a $25 materials fee.
"You've come a long way, baby," is more than a timeworn
advertising slogan. This statement defines the history of women
in the advertising industry. Women's struggle to break into this
highly creative field is the topic of "Women in Advertising,"
a three-session survey taught by Dr. Simone W. Davis, author of
Living Up to the Ads: Gender Fictions in the 1920s. The class
is scheduled for Mondays, April 8, 16, and 22, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Tuition is $60.
Women can learn how to achieve financial security and fund their
dreams in the "Smart Women Finish RichTM" Financial Planning
Seminar. Based on the best-selling book by David Bach, this seminar
explores seven steps to help women live a richer life. This seminar
will be presented by Lizbeth Lindley, MBA, an investment representative
with more than 14 years of experience as a foreign exchange trader,
from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 11. Tuition is $30.
All courses are held at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University,
720 Northern Blvd. (Route 25A) in Brookville. For additional information,
