Assistant Director for Student Life and Leadership Development

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Director of Student Life and Leadership Development, the Assistant Director has primary responsibilities for advising clubs and organizations, co-advising the Association for Campus Programming (ACP), advising the fashion show, supervising all club programming and data entry into the Event Business Management Software (EBMS), requiring room bookings, service requirements and appropriate event planning skills. Co-advising the ACP includes working with the ACP spending budget, programming, publicity and contracting events. The Assistant Director also spearheads the Divisional efforts to develop general leadership development opportunities for interested students at C.W. Post. Additional responsibilities include: major event planning, office sponsored functions, co-coordinate the New Student Orientation Program, Homecoming Activities, and other duties assigned by the Director. The Assistant Director is required to live on campus and must be frequently available in the evenings and weekends for the execution of job responsibilities and as a part of an on call roster.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required qualifications for the Assistant Director include, but are not limited to: a Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree in college student personnel or related field strongly preferred, with at least two years progressive responsibility in student affairs, student life or student activities; sound decision making skills; exceptional organizational and time management skills; superior interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office, to include Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and Publisher. Associate Director of Student Life and Leadership Development

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Director of Student Life and Leadership Development, the Associate Director is responsible for oversight of Hillwood Commons as well as programming for the C.W. Post student body. These major activities include, but are not limited to, oversight of all improvements of Hillwood Commons; co-coordination of Homecoming activities (with Alumni & Development); coordination of all Orientation activities; coordination of all Senior Week activities; supervision of Hillwood Commons building managers and supervision of the professional staff in the absence of the Director. The Associate Director is also responsible for oversight of the club and organizations budgets, as well as advising the Student Government’s budget process. The Associate Director is required to live on campus and must be frequently available in the evenings and on weekends for the execution of job responsibilities and as part of an on call duty roster.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist the Director of Student Life and Leadership Development in the everyday operations of the department. Examples of such support are conducting a daily walk though of Hillwood Commons; addressing questions and concerns from students, faculty, staff, and university guests; approving check requisitions for clubs and offices, providing guidance to students with organizational and personal needs.
2. Balance and oversee administrative and organizational (student club) accounts. The office is responsible for the management of over $1,000,000 in student activity fees. The Associate Director will oversee all budget lines, assist organizations with all transactions, review office and organizational account balances, and provides a weekly report to the Director.
3. Advise the Student Government Association Budgets and Appropriations (B&A) Committee. It is the responsibility of the advisor to train the committee, create the annual organization budget request form, schedule meetings with each organization, and join the B&A Committee when they meet with each student organization to identify the budget for the following academic year.
4. Train and supervise all student staff employees including Building Managers, and Information Desk Receptionists (approximately 25 staff members).
5. Monitor and oversee the maintenance of all office owned equipment including the upkeep of the following: student life vans, copy machines, poster rolls, office computer needs, coin machine, and data boards in Hillwood Commons, bulletin boards, all Student Technology Canter equipment, computer lab equipment, billiard table upkeep needs, and the overall information desk needs.
6. Oversee capital improvements to Hillwood Commons with the assistance of members of the staff and in consultation with the student body. Projects in the past have included the creation of the Student Technology Center and renovation to the Pioneer Room. Future projects will include, but are not limited to, the renovations to the Hillwood Cinema (seating, walls, sound system, screen, and flooring).
7. Co-coordinate all Homecoming activities (with Alumni and Development) including the development of four days of programming, hiring outside talent and services (tents, performers, sound, etc.), promoting the events and activities, while working within a fixed budget.
8. Coordinate the Campus’s five Orientation programs, which involves designing and producing all marketing materials and strategies; hiring and training all student leaders; developing and providing oversight of the total program for both students and parents; securing and contracting outside talent; supervising all necessary support and logistical functions; and overseeing each program while in session.
9. Coordinate all Senior Week activities, including the securing and contracting of venues for each event, developing and implementing publicity and providing a range of logistitical support assistance.
10. Supervise the professional staff and represent the department in the absence of the Director.
11. Serve as an On Call Administrator throughout the calendar year by responding to overnight and weekend emergencies and calls for assistance in the residence halls and elsewhere on campus.
12. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Life and Leadership Development.

Required qualifications for the Associate Director include, but are not limited to: a master’s degree in student personnel administration or counseling; at least three years of progressively professional experience in student affairs, preferably in student life or student activities; sound judgment and decision making skills, exceptional organizational and time management skills; experience in financial management; superior interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office, to include Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and Publisher; and demonstrated commitment to embrace diversity and support excellence and access.

Associate Director of Financial Assistance for Systems

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Associate Director of Financial Assistance for Systems is responsible for the management and supervision of the ongoing implementation and utilization of the People Soft Student Information System, Financial Aid Module for the C.W. Post Campus. Reporting to the Director of Financial Assistance, the Associate Director’s primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Design, develop and process statistical reports and queries regarding financial aid application processing, funds utilization, and enrollment.
• Serve as a liaison for the C.W. Post Office of Financial Assistance with the Office of Information Technology along with other PS modules on-campus and regional campuses.
• Supervise the Coordinator of Financial Assistance for Systems and designated professional support staff.
• Provide financial aid staff with continued training and other module cross training in utilizing People Soft Financial Aid Module.
• Monitor financial aid processing in the People Soft System.
• Maintain annual set-up configuration, automated packaging procedures and communication management processes.
• Oversee the development of a processing schedule regarding packaging and communications management.
• Monitor People Soft ListServ for issues relevant to processing financial aid.
• Assist in counseling prospective students and families during enrollment services events.
• Assist in counseling enrolled students regarding their financial aid.
• Represent the Office of Financial Assistance at Financial Aid Nights at area high schools.
• Assist in other duties within the Office of Student Financial Assistance as assigned.
In addition, the Associate Director serves as a member of the Financial Assistance Office Cabinet. The Associate Director manages the Systems Team, compromised of both clerical staff members and professional staff members.

Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred; Prior experience in Financial Assistance or a related field preferred. Ideal candidates will have working knowledge of the PeopleSoft System.

PeopleSoft Security Administrator

Information Technology is seeking a PeopleSoft Security Administrator who will be responsible for refining and maintaining the security access of users for University Finance, Human Resources, Payroll, and Student administrative systems.
The candidate should have a strong technical knowledge of PeopleSoft security architecture for PeopleTools 8.4 and above. He/she will responsible for creating and maintaining security roles and permission lists across various PeopleSoft applications. He/she should have excellent understanding of LDAP, Single Sign-on and other security related components. Special Assistant to the Associate Provost

Position Description & Responsibilities: The Special Assistant to the Associate Provost is an administrative position which reports to the Associate Provost for Enrollment Services at the C.W. Post Campus. The Special Assistant coordinates a wide variety of programs associated with the offices of Admissions, Academic Counseling, Adult Student Services, Student Financials, English Language Institute, Financial Assistance, Life Experience,
Student Records, SCALE/ACE, and Summer/Winter/Evening/ Weekend programs. Responsibilities encompass those listed below and other duties as assigned by the Associate Provost for Enrollment Services. Works closely with the Assistant Provost for Enrollment Services and all the functional Directors with Enrollment Services. The Special Assistant will, over-time, be assigned to various Enrollment Services offices to secure first hand knowledge
of the day-to-day operation of that office. Develop first hand knowledge of the operation of the PeopleSoft system as it relates to all the individual, student modules (especially Admissions, Student Records, Financial Assistance, and Student Financials) within the Division of Enrollment Services. Assist in coordinating and promoting all programs through publications, direct mail, web, print, radio and television and other advertising mediums. Monitor, compile nd analyze enrollment statistics. Assist the Associate Provost and all Enrollment Services offices with issue related to the implementation of PeopleSoft as it relates to the C.W. Post and other regional campuses. Serve as a liaison to coordinate activities between the various Enrollment Services offices and the C.W. Post campus community. Qualifications: Candidates for the Special Assistant to the Associate Provost positions Should have a minimum of five years of senior level college administrative experience. Chemical Hygiene Officer

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
• Provides technical guidance in the development and implementation of each campus’ Chemical Hygiene Plan (CHP) in compliance with OSHA regulations.
• Evaluates, updates and seeks ways to improve each campus’ and (as needed) each department’s CHP.
• Instructs personnel on proper laboratory procedures, chemical labeling, storage, disposal and spill cleanup.
• Works with departments and individual researchers to develop, review and approve Standard Operating Procedures for proposed activities that involve hazardous materials.
• Investigates all reports of laboratory hazards and chemical spills. Works with academic departments, individual researchers and other campus offices to minimize risks and correct problems as they occur.
• Conducts annual chemical laboratory safety audits and ensures safety equipment inspections are completed on a regular basis. Coordinates such inspections and possible installation of repairs to safety equipment with Facilities, Public Safety and academic departments.
• Oversees procurement and ensures proper storage and laboratory usage of hazardous chemicals. Maintains documentation of campus-wide chemical inventories as reported by departments/laboratories.
• Coordinates with departments/offices and each campus’ Environmental Health and Safety Officer for chemical waste disposal and outside contractor for biohazardous waste disposal.
• Ensures maintenance of and access to Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) by departments and individual researchers.
• Organizes annual chemical safety training and ensures training compliance for employees and students.
• Maintains logs of employee health monitoring, training and safety equipment inspections according to CHP. Provides guidance to departments and individual researchers for choosing personal protection equipment. Approves employee’s return to work following chemical exposure requiring medical consultation.
• Chairs Chemical Safety Committee on each campus and acts as a liaison between each Committee, campus offices and academic departments.
• Reports to Buildings & Grounds at the Brooklyn Campus & the Dean’s Office, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the C.W. Post Campus.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in a chemically-related science or environmental health and safety; Master’s degree and CHO certification through NRCC are preferred; Experience as a CHO or in chemical safety with familiarity with relevant EPA, OSHA and other applicable local, state and federal regulations are necessities; Accuracy and attention to detail, excellent writing and communication skills, must be a self-starter with initiative and the ability to work effectively within the levels of the University to ensure chemical safety on both campuses; Ability to train others in safety requirements, regulations and procedures; Must be able to commute between Brooklyn and C.W. Job Duties:
• Represent the Brooklyn Campus’s on-campus programs at college fairs, open houses and other recruitment events. Analyze effectiveness of recruitment activities and report on these activities.
• Conduct counseling sessions with prospective students, parents, school or college personnel and other interested individuals or groups; maintain high level of student-centered service with students and their families throughout the enrollment process.
• Serve as a liaison between the Office of Admissions, the Academic Program Coordinators and the community.
• Review candidate eligibility for admission based on Brooklyn Campus admission policy and extension site policy; provide student counseling for successful student transition and enrollment.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.

• Computer literacy, strong written and oral communication skills
• Experience with customer service and student service.
• Valid driver’s license and ability/desire to travel extensively.

Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach

Job Duties: Full-time position of Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach: the selected individual will assist the Head Coach in all facets of running a highly competitive Division I women’s basketball program.
