Mission
As a forum for advanced teaching, research, and practice in supply chain strategy and management, the mission of the Center for Supply Chain Leadership (CSCL) at the College of Management of the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University is to conduct and promote applied research to address the problems and issues introduced by its members, and support educational programs relevant to supply chain management.
Vision
The Center will strive to become a major focus of supply chain management related activities by sponsoring and supporting projects that will address the effective and efficient management of materials, information, and financial flows in supply chain networks of suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, service providers, and customers. The Center will disseminate the new knowledge, approaches, and skills resulting from the projects as scholarly and practitioner oriented publications and presentations, teaching material, and case studies. The Center’s membership is open to faculty members, students, and representatives of participating companies. The expertise gained through this diverse group, and the database that will evolve from sponsored activities, will become an important source of information for both students and companies that recognize the importance of supply chain leadership in remaining competitive within a global economy.
Our People
The Center’s membership consists of a director, one senior academic member and three academic members. This group of experts brings significant, relevant experience from the public and private sector, education, and industry. Together they are uniquely qualified to cover the range of issues involved in the study of supply chain management and the relationship between supply chain leadership and competing effectively in today’s world.
| Celik Parkan − Director Dr. Parkan earned his M.S. degree in management science from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and his Ph.D. in management science from the University of British Columbia. He also holds an M.S. degree in mechanical/industrial engineering from the Technical University of Istanbul, Turkey. He has worked as an operations research analyst with British Coal in London, and held tenured positions at the University of Calgary and the City University of Hong Kong. His expertise includes analysis of service systems, simulation modeling, location logistics and analysis, managerial decision-making, and the measurement and analysis of productivity and performance. He currently serves as the Stephen P. Kaufman Professor for Logistics and Supply Chain Management at C.W. Post. |

| Baichun Xiao − Senior Academic Member Dr. Xiao earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Nanjing University in China, an M.B.A. from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, and a Ph.D. in operations research/operations management from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He held a tenured position at Seton Hall University and now serves as chairman of the Department of Management at C.W. Post and director of the Service Management Institute at Sichuan University in China. His expertise includes service management, revenue management, and risk management. |

| Jiamin Wang −Academic Member Dr. Wang earned his Ph.D. degree in management science and engineering from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. He did postdoctoral work in operations management at the Joseph L. Rotman School of Business at the University of Toronto and joined the C.W. Post Department of Management in 2002. Dr. Wang has also earned MCSE and MCSD certificates from Microsoft Corp. His expertise includes integrated transportation-inventory-production planning and computer system administration and development. |

| Wei Yang − Academic Member Dr. Yang’s current research interests span modeling and analysis of supply chain management using financial, economic and game-theoretical fundamentals as well as providing useful, industrial strength decision support tools using operations research models and algorithms. Dr. Yang has earned his Ph.D. degree from the Business School of Carnegie Mellon University. Before joining Long Island University, he was a visiting assistant professor at the Weatherhead School of Management of Case Western Reserve University. |

| Lalit Manral − Academic Member Lalit Manral holds the degrees of BTech, 1993, NIT, Kozhikode, India; MIB, 1996, IIFT, New Delhi, India; MPhil, 2003; PhD, 2006, Columbia University, New York, USA. Dr. Manral's research in strategic management of firms builds on evolutionary economics and industrial organization to explore the logic of economic selection of business firms in diverse industrial contexts related to systemic technologies. His five years of professional experience prior to joining the Ph.D. program spans different functional areas (e.g., corporate strategy, international business, etc.) across diverse industrial sectors as apparel, construction, engineering goods, and information technology. |

The Center has an affiliation with researchers at the Business School of the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI) in Hyderabad and at the Chinese-American Research Center for Service and Operations Management at Southwest Jiaotong University in Chinato conduct collaborative research into service systems’ supply chains.
Research partners at the Chinese-American Research Center for Service and Operations Management
The Chinese-American Research Center for Service and Operations Management (CSOM) at Southwest Jiaotong University was established in 2005. Dr. Baichun Xiao serves as its director. The research team at the center includes faculty members from Southwest Jiaotong University, Sichuan University, and Long Island University. Currently, the center has eight Ph.D. students and 22 master students.
Research partners at the ICFAI Business School
The ICFAI Business School (IBS) (www.ibsindia.org) was established in 1995 by the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India. IBS has a strong and growing presence at campuses located in many cities in India, including Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, and Mumbai. IBS offers full-time and part-time programs in Business Administration as well as executive education programs. Over 5,000 students are enrolled each year in the MBA program of IBS. IBS Hyderabad has been consistently ranked among the top 10 business schools in the country in surveys conducted by independent agencies and published in leading magazines. | Sandeep Kayastha – Senior research partner Mr. Kayastha is Dean (Academics) at ICFAI Business School, Hyderabad. He gained 20 years of academic experience at various institutions including Kirloskar Institute of Advanced Management Studies - Harihar, Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration - Mussoorie, Management Development Institute - Gurgaon, Indian Institute of Management - Ahmedabad and Indian Institute of Technology - Delhi. He earned his M.Tech. degree from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. His areas of specialization are mathematical modeling, simulation and services management. He has published a book entitled “Workload Reduction in Government.” He has consulted for Andhra Pradesh Government and has been involved in over one hundred management development programs conducted for the Indian and state governmentsand public and private sector companies. |

| Anupam Ghosh − Research partner Mr. Ghosh is Senior Lecturer at ICFAI Business School. He holds a Master’s in Commerce from the University of Calcutta and Post-Graduate Diploma in Transportation and Logistics Management from Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management, Calcutta. He is currently working towards the completion of his Ph.D. He was awarded national scholarship from the government of India and Certificate of Excellence from the government of West Bengal. He has five years of teaching experience in undergraduate and postgraduate classes. He is a member of the Bentley Envision Project at Bentley College, and a regular contributor to national and international conferences, journals and magazines. |

| Sunil Bhardwaj − Research partnerMr. Bhardwaj holds a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Beant College of Engineering and Technology in Punjab, and a Master of Technology (M.Tech.) from Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) in Allahabad. He has three years of teaching experience with ICFAI Business School. He regularly publishes case studies, magazine articles, and research papers in various national and international journals. His research areas are information technology and supply chain management. He submitted his doctoral thesis in June 2006. |

| Sourabh Bhattacharya −Research partner Mr. Bhattacharya holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) degree in Civil Engineering from Government Engineering College in Jabalpur and a Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in Construction Technology and Management from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Madras. He has four years of work experience with the largest Indian construction company, Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T Ltd). His responsibilities at L&T Ltd. included internal quality auditing. He is currently a Doctoral Research Scholar at ICFAI Institute for Management Teachers (IIMT). He has published case studies and research articles in various journals. His teaching and research interests focus on quantitative analysis of operational problems, business research methods, and project management. |
