- Extensive coverage of basic and applied research on all
aspects of marine, freshwater, and brackish water organisms
and environments, including information on biology
and ecology, exploitation of living
resources, and related legal, policy, and socioeconomic issues.
Since natural resources are an important feature,
fisheries receive particular attention, including the latest fishing
methods, statistics, aquaculture, food technology, productivity,
conservation, and marketing. Covers 1971 to the present.
- ASFA 3:
Aquatic Pollution and Environmental Quality (Cambridge Scientific Abstracts)
- Covers marine and aquatic pollution, including research and policy on the
contamination of oceans, seas, lakes, rivers, and estuaries of interest to
biologists, oceanographers, limnologists, environmental engineers and scientists, industrial
engineers, waste managers, corporate regulatory affairs
managers, and government officials. Covers methods and instruments;
characteristics, behavior, and fate; effects on organisms; prevention and control;
environmental changes, mechanical and natural; protective measures and control;
conservation, wildlife management, and recreation; public health, medicines, and
dangerous organisms. Covers 1990 to the present.
- ASFA
Aquaculture Abstracts (Cambridge Scientific Abstracts)
- Covers the science, practice, management, and economics
of marine and freshwater aquaculture, including
the improvement and augmenting of aquatic yields,
instruments, technological developments, culturing techniques, and new methods of
husbandry. Includes references from related disciplines such as water pollution, ecology,
diseases, nutrition, oceanography, and limnology.
Covers 1984 to the present.
- ASFA
Marine Biotechnology Abstracts (Cambridge Scientific Abstracts)
- Covers the molecular biology and molecular genetics of marine biotechnology
in such fields as the increased production of seafood,
the development of new therapeutic drugs, the
engineering of microbes that digest and remove environmental and
marine pollutants, and the launching of myriad ventures having
immense economic benefit. Includes patents, aquaculture/fisheries,
chemical/mineral products, energy applications, and more.
Covers 1989 to the present.
- LIUCat
on the Web:
- The online public access catalog of Long Island University's
six campuses. This can be searched from any computer. No password is needed.
- Water
Resources Abstracts (Cambridge Scientific Abstracts)
- Provides summaries of the
world's technical and scientific literature on water-related topics
covering the characteristics, conservation, control, pollution,
supply, treatment, use, and management of water resources. Abstracts are
drawn from journals, books, conference proceedings, and
technical reports in the physical and life sciences, as well as from
engineering, legal, and government publications.
Formerly produced by the United States Geological Survey as Selected
Water Resources Abstracts, its scope has been broadened
by including more material published outside the USA.
Includes links to water resources websites. Covers 1967 to the present.
- Online Encyclopedias and Books:
- ebrary (ebrary)
