- Contains the full text of journals, magazines, transactions,
conference proceedings, newsletters, and other publications by
the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), its Affiliated Organizations,
and Special Interest Groups (SIGs), including an archive dating back to the 1950's.
The ACM is a major force in advancing
the skills of information technology professionals and students worldwide,
providing a portal to the computing literature through authoritative publications
and pioneering conferences.

- Provided free by EBSCO to anyone interested in libraries and information management,
LISTA indexes more than 600 periodicals as well as books, research reports, proceedings,
and patents, covering all fields of information science, including librarianship, classification,
cataloging, bibliometrics, online information retrieval, information management, search engines,
printed & electronic information sources, the information industry, scholarly communication,
electronic publishing, and more. With coverage dating back to the mid-1960s, this is the
oldest continuously produced database covering the field of information science.

- LISA:
Library and Information Science Abstracts (Cambridge Scientific Abstracts)
- Designed for library professionals and other information specialists, it covers
over 440 periodicals from more than 68 countries and in more than 20 different languages,
as well as conference proceedings, book reviews, and selected research report series,
from 1969 to the present. Topics include artificial intelligence, information storage,
internet technology, knowledge management, librarianship, medical information,
publishing, bookselling, records management, telecommunications, and more.

on the Web:
- The online public access catalog of Long Island University's
six campuses. This can be searched from any computer. No password is needed.
- Online Encyclopedias and Books:
- Charleston Advisor (Charleston Company)
- Provides peer reviewed critical evaluations of web products for
information professionals using a rating system that scores each product based
on content, searchability, price, and contract options/features. Reviews include a
narrative description of the product and its content, examination of its strengths
and weaknesses, citations to other reviews of the product or related materials,
opinions gleaned from web-based opinion forms, and usage experiences. In
the case of opposing opinions, an opposing composite score may be calculated. Also
includes reports from the field, opinion editorials, and other non-review articles.
