Your transition to living in the United States
will take some time because there are so many new things to learn.
We offer several programs to make your adjustment easier.
- International Student
Orientation: A requirement for newly enrolled international
students, this four-day program helps you adjust to life on campus
as well as life in a new country. Learn about American customs,
laws, immigration and insurance information in addition to other
regulations. Become familiar with the people and places that make
up the C.W. Post Campus community.
- International Student
Advising: Through the Office of International Students (OIS),
you will receive personalized advising on a variety of topics.
From immigration matters - including the complicated regulations
of the Immigration and Naturalization Service - to obtaining an
American driver's license or renting a car, the OIS can help you
adjust quickly to American life.
- Klar Intercultural
Student Center: Located on campus, the Klar Intercultural
Student Center is a "home away from home" for international
students at C.W. Post. It is a friendly, inviting place where
you can practice English, read a newspaper from your country,
watch television or movies, play games or exchange ideas with
other students and faculty members. Throughout the semester, the
staff of the Klar Center sponsors special events to encourage
international students to meet one another and become involved
in campus life.
- Conversation Partnership
Program: Members of the campus community will help you practice
your English speaking skills. By participating, you can meet in
an informal setting each week to learn language skills, practice
your conversation and make new friends.
- Tutoring Services:
Free tutoring assistance is available for all academic departments
if you need additional help with your studies. Laboratories also
offer tutoring in the areas of math and science. Our Writing Center
is available for those interested in writing or improving their
writing and English skills.
