Policy Fact Sheet for Graduate Admissions
(Effective Fall, 2006)

  1. Admission to the M.A. program in Speech/Language Pathology will occur in the Fall semester only. The application deadline for the Fall semester is February 1st.  All application materials (GRE, personal statement, letters of recommendation and transcript) be submitted by February 1st.

  2. The applicant is required to send two transcripts from any school he or she has attended to Graduate Admissions.

  3. The major average and the cumulative average required for application to the M.A. Program is 3.0. If a student has a masters degree from an accredited college or university, the average from the masters degree will be considered in the assessment.

  4. Applicants should include a resume including work experience, volunteer work, honors, special interests.

  5. Applicants must submit GRE scores.

  6. Students cannot be accepted to the program on a waiver.

  7. The applicant must provide 2 letters of recommendation (3 if possible) from a past or present employer or professor.

  8. All applicants should write a personal statement regarding professional interests and objectives, honors and related work history.

  9. Upon review of application materials, candidates will be interviewed at the discression of the faculty admission committee.

  10. All applicants will be reviewed for a set number of spaces in the program. The top applicants will be selected and then a waiting list will be developed. These candidates will be admitted as spaces become available. Waiting lists pertain only to the semester for which the applicants have applied. All reapplicants must submit updated materials (letters of recommendation, personal statements, etc.)

  11. Applications may be submitted for admission prior to the completion of prerequisite course work. These candidates may be accepted on a limited matriculated basis. Full matriculation will be granted upon successful completion of prerequisite coursework.
