PARENT TRAINING FOR BEHAVIOR PROBLEMS IN YOUNG CHILDREN
There is a new study beginning to provide a different kind of parent
training to fathers of school-aged children with behavior problems. The
program will last for four sessions and will include the young children
as well. It will provide important skills for fathers to effectively
discipline their children and opportunities for fathers to practice
these skills while participating in fun activities with their children.
The program will be run by a senior graduate student supervised by a
licensed clinical psychologist at the Psychological Services Center of
the CW Post Campus of Long Island University, which is located in Roslyn
Heights. Classes will be held on weekday evenings at a mutually
convenient time to be determined by the participants and the group
leader.
Group participants should be fathers with at least one child between the
ages of four and ten years who is experiencing mild to moderate behavior
problems. Snacks will be provided for all participants and child care
will be provided for the children during the adults-only portion of each
session.
