News, Sports and Talk
WCWP offers C.W. Post students an opportunity to learn and practice broadcast journalism. Students explore various jobs in news, sports and talk show programming. Journalism students learn to become reporters, writers, and anchors. Using digital audio equipment students deliver news in a timely fashion to our listeners. Students interested in sports learn by doing play-by-play, color commentary, field reporting and more. WCWP Sports provides exclusive live game coverage of the C.W. Post Pioneer football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, softball and lacrosse. Students also produce and host talk shows each weekday covering news, business, politics and sports. A Pioneer and leader in Internet broadcasting, myWCWP gives students access to unlimited possibilities to practice the craft of radio broadcasting.
As an associate member of National Public Radio (NPR), WCWP/88.1 FM broadcasts hourly NPR news updates. Students have opportunities to prepare sports and news reports broadcast during Morning Edition and The WLIU/WCWP report.
Listeners can also receive news and information from such NPR programs as "Morning Edition" and from Public Radio International's "Marketplace," PBS's "News Hour with Jim Lehrer," and the BBC's World Service.
