Environmental Artists to Gather for National Teach-In on Global Warming -- February 5

Focus the Nation, a national climate change awareness project, will hold its 2009 National Teach-In on Global Warming on Thursday, February 5, 2009. As part of this national event, the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University has invited environmental artists to present slide-shows and facilitate a solutions-driven discussion to foster awareness of environmental issues through art.

Leading ecoartists will discuss their work and the changing relationship between art, nature and society. The panel includes multimedia artist William Schuck and C.W. Post Professors Winn Rea, a process-based conceptual artist; Richard Mills, an environmental artist; and Dr. Rachel Baum, an assistant professor of art history.

The event will be held in the Pioneer Room in Hillwood Commons on Thursday, February 5, from 4 to 6 p.m.

This presentation is sponsored by Student Affairs-Faculty Partnership Initiative Committee, the Department of Art, the Department of Earth and Environmental Science and the C.W. Post Recycling Program.

Admission is free.
