C.W. Post M.F.A. Students to Exhibit Work in Bay Shore Gallery

The firehouse on Second Avenue in Bay Shore was home to the members of the Hook and Ladder Company No. 1 at the dawn of the 20th century. Now, for the fourth year in a row, it will be home to various works of art created by the Master of Fine Arts candidates from the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University.

Steve Ceraso, the current curator at the gallery, which is now located in the restored firehouse, along with Seung Lee, director of the graduate art program at C.W. Post, have organized the latest exhibition. Ceraso also is a former artist-in-residence at the gallery and a sculpture professor at C.W. Post. The art work will include photography, paintings and sculpture.

The Second Avenue Firehouse Gallery and Performance Space is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is funded by the South Shore Restoration Group, Inc. Susan Barbash is the president of this non-profit organization dedicated to the restoration of Bay Shore’s historic neighborhoods.

The exhibition will be held from October 1 to October 29, 2006, with a reception on Sunday, October 8, from 2 to 4 p.m. The gallery is located at 17 Second Avenue in Bay Shore and is open Sundays from 12 noon to 4 p.m. The Web site for the Second Avenue Firehouse Gallery and Performance Space can be found at www.secondavenuefirehouse.com. Contact Steve Ceraso or Seung Lee via e-mail at cerasos@earthlink.net or Seung.Lee@liu.edu for more information.
