A Tradition of Excellence
The campus was founded by Long Island University in 1954 to accommodate the educational needs of World War II veterans living in Nassau County. The C.W. Post Campus, which is rich in history, is located on Long Island's famed Gold Coast, on the former Brookville estate of cereal heiress and socialite Marjorie Merriweather Post. The campus was named for Mrs. Post's father, the founder of the Post Cereal Company (now a division of Kraft Foods, Inc.). In building his cereal empire, Charles William Post embodied ingenuity, determination and courage - qualities that are living inspirations for the University's faculty and students.

Today, C.W. Post offers its 8,500 full- and part-time students a
comprehensive range of undergraduate and graduate programs in accountancy,
business, computer
science, education, health
professions and nursing,
liberal arts and sciences, library
and information science, public
service, and the visual
and performing arts. Students choose from 235
degree programs, including doctorates in clinical
psychology and information
studies. Flexible schedules for day, evening and weekend are
offered year-round. C.W. Post also offers an extensive Continuing
Education Program.
Rich in Beauty
With its tree-lined paths, rolling green lawns and historic buildings, the C.W. Post Campus is recognized as one of the nation's most beautiful college campuses. The campus encompasses three notable estates including the homes of financial wizard E. F. Hutton, and his cousin William E. Hutton II. The 307-acre campus is shaped by modern facilities ranging from an award-winning student union to an elegant library which is part of the University's 2.8 million-volume system. Technology and Education
C.W. Post's innovative programs are enriched by a high-tech environment which includes more than 500 computers for student use in the library, residence halls and student union; free internet and email accounts; and an on-line Student Information System to check grades, course schedules, financial aid packages and billing information. Recent technological advancements include new laboratories in music, multimedia arts and computer science, computerized "smart classrooms," and instant Internet access in every residence hall room. The campus also features wireless internet service located outdoors on the Great Lawn, in the library, and dining halls. The B. Davis Schwartz Memorial Library is one of the largest research libraries in the area offering unparalleled resources and expert research assistance.
Athletics and Recreation
Fifteen NCAA men's and women's sports teams take full advantage of C.W. Post's 70 acres of playing fields. The Pratt Recreation Center is a modern facility equipped with an 8-lane swimming pool, a three-court gymnasium for basketball and volleyball as well as weight, fitness and dance studios, racquetball courts and an elevated jogging/walking track.
Art and Cultural Resources
From the world-class Tilles Center for the Performing Arts to the Hillwood Art Museum and award-winning Post Theatre Company, C.W. Post provides Long Island's richest selection of on-campus cultural activities with more than 200 events each year. They include plays and recitals, symphony, dance, rock and pop concerts by the world's leading artists, and art exhibits, lectures and conferences. C.W. Post's Institute for Arts & Culture sponsors artists-in-residence, master classes, workshops and class projects to integrate the arts into all areas of the curriculum. |
