| The C.W. Post Labyrinth is located in a beautiful open field behind
the Admissions building. The location is surrounded by gardens and
wooded trails and overlooks the majestic Great Lawn and Humanities
Hall. At 47-feet in diameter, this circular path of tiles provides
a quiet place for meditation and contemplation, a gathering place
for clubs and organizations and a forum for professors to teach. At
C.W. Post, visitors walk through the maze-like structure comprised
of circular paths leading toward an open center. In use for thousands
of years, labyrinths exist on nearly every continent, in every major
culture, and in most systems of religious belief. The labyrinth serves
as a resource for meditation, spirituality and the journey toward
wholeness. The labyrinth was designed and constructed in 2000-2001
by C.W. Post fine arts graduate student David Byer-Tyre with help
from students and professors in the C.W. Post Ceramics Department.
