The Reference Department is a good place to start your search for
information. The Reference
Librarians can suggest sources of information and research strategies,
which may help you in your work. They
will assist you in using the library's
computerized catalog, show
you relevant publications in the Reference Department, and suggest other areas
of the library that are likely to contain resources useful to you.
The Reference Department houses many different types of publications,
including dictionaries, encyclopedias,
handbooks, almanacs,
directories, atlases, statistical compilations, bibliographies, and a fairly
extensive collection of legal sources including cases and statutes. The
Reference Librarians compile subject bibliographies
and other instructional
publications as well as internet sites that are useful for research.
Many services are offered through the Reference Department such as
interlibrary loan, database searching,
electronic reference service, and
instruction on using campus-wide databases or the internet.
