ARTstor Digital Image Library
ARTstor is a database of nearly 1 million images in the areas
of art, art history, architecture, the humanities, and social sciences. It covers all geographic regions
and time periods, and is used by educators, scholars and students internationally. ARTstor
is available to all LIU cardholders.
Use ARTstor to find images and...
- Browse image collections
- Search by keyword, date or geographic origin
- Zoom in and pan images for greater detail
- Create, store, and share groups of images
- Import images into presentations using PowerPoint or ARTstor's Offline Image Viewer (OIV)
- Save citations for images
How to get to ARTstor
At the Library homepage, go to Online Databases.
Click on Art in the
Subject List of Databases.
Then click on Images and select ARTstor.
Or click A in the
Alphabetic List of Databases.
Please Note: ARTstor is available remotely
with an active library barcode.
Register for an ARTstor account
You must register on campus. Click on "Go" in the tan box in the upper right
hand side of the screen. Click on "Not registered?" Enter your email address and
a password and click on "submit".
Searching ARTstor
Perform a simple keyword search of ARTstor, or click on "Advanced Search"
to search by Title and/or Creator. Limit your results by Date or Date Range, Geography,
Object Classification, e.g.; drawings and watercolors, and/or Collection.
Download images in ARTstor
Double click on an image to enlarge it. Save the image by clicking on the "save"
button on the lower right (floppy disc icon). A window will pop up requesting compliance
with image use terms. Click "I accept", and then save the image.
Open an image group in ARTstor
Click on "Organize" in the toolbar at the top of the screen. Click on
"Open image group". Select your folder (Professor's name and/or class)
and click on the box to the left ("+ sign"). Click on your
"image group" (it must be highlighted), and then click "Open"
in the lower left corner of the window.
