About the C.W. Post Campus

The C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University offers the best of an American college education: excellent academics, personal attention and a safe and beautiful environment just a short train ride away from the excitement of New York City. Our classes average only 20 students and are taught by renowned professors. C.W. Post is part of Long Island University -- one of the most comprehensive private universities in the United States -- which educates more than 24,000 students in the New York Metropolitan area.

Academics
C.W. Post offers 104 bachelor’s degrees and 75 master’s programs in six schools of study:

Students can also choose one of our more than 53 accelerated bachelor’s/master’s programs, which allow you to receive your advanced degree with just one additional year of study beyond the bachelor’s. No matter what major you choose, you will benefit from a ratio of one faculty member for every 12 students, as well as from the chance to learn from leading experts – scholars, artists, researchers and scientists.

Our Students
There are 5,400 undergraduate students and 3,100 graduate students currently enrolled at C.W. Post. Studying and living with people from many nations, including the United States of America, will build your understanding, help you develop a useful career network and give you the chance to form lifelong friendships.

The Campus
At C.W. Post, you will spend your days on a tree-lined, 307-acre country campus. The college has often been cited as having one of the most beautiful campuses in America, as well as one of the safest. On campus, elegant mansions blend with modern classroom buildings, a state-of-the-art sports facility, a concert hall, computer laboratories, art studios, and a major research library with a 2.7 million-volume collection. It’s a perfect setting for study and student life. Computer labs are located throughout the college, and you will have the chance to study in networked “smart” classrooms, use laptop connections in the cafeteria, and even connect to the Internet outdoors with our wireless connectivity.

Living Arrangements
As a new international student, you may choose to live in one of our 10 comfortable, modern, co-ed residence halls (men and women live on separate floors). Whether you are in a room with another student or in a suite (with up to eight students sharing a common living room, double bedrooms and a bathroom), you will have free cable television service, voicemail and Internet connections in your room. More than 1,900 C.W. Post students live on campus.

While living in a residence hall may help make the transition to life in the United States easier, you are also free to live elsewhere if you choose. Some of our international students live in apartments and rented houses within easy commuting distance to the campus.

Recreation
C.W. Post offers students a rich and exciting campus life with more than 1,000 on-campus activities each year, such as concerts, art shows, plays and sporting events. In addition to the many regularly scheduled campus events, special trips and programs are organized just for international students. We will also make sure that you have something to do on holidays and student vacations, if you choose to remain on campus.

C.W. Post students also receive discounted tickets to major events at Tilles Center for the Performing Arts, a world-class concert hall located right on the campus. The schedule ranges from jazz to rock, dance to chamber music and big Broadway musicals.

Tourist Attractions
Near the campus are miles of sandy beaches, world-class entertainment and sports, trendy clubs, great restaurants and shopping centers. There is a shuttle bus that makes regular trips to the mall, the movies, the supermarket and the train station. You can take the train to New York City where you can visit some of the world’s best museums, attend the opera, Broadway shows, and concerts, and tour famous sites like the Statue of Liberty. The New York metropolitan area also boasts almost every possible sort of ethnic neighborhood. You will be able to find restaurants, grocery stores and shops just like the ones back home. Our nation’s capitol (Washington, D.C.) as well as historic Boston, major ski areas, lakes and parks are all just a weekend trip away.

Dining
When you get hungry, our campus dining facilities offer plenty of options. The Winnick Student Center serves an all-you-care-to-eat buffet of international and home-style cuisine ranging from hamburgers, pizza, soup and salad to pasta, sushi and vegetarian meals. Hillwood Commons features a modern food court serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Specialty dining includes a Mexican eatery, Subway sandwiches, a salad and sandwich wrap station and Java City Coffee.

Hillwood Commons also features two art galleries, a computer lab, movie theater, hair salon and bank.
