One of
the most important services a college provides to its students is
academic counseling. Research shows that the quality of a schools
academic counseling program can affect a students overall
satisfaction with his/her college experience. At the C.W. Post Campus
of Long Island University, the Academic Counseling program has been
recognized by the National Academic Advising Association as "outstanding
and exemplary in its delivery of advising services." We are
one of the few universities to provide full-time professional academic
counselors to all undergraduate students, from their first semester
at C.W. Post through to graduation. Students are assigned to their
academic counselor according to major; there are also two academic
counselors for students who are "Undecided." The role
of the academic counselor is to assist students with the planning
and coordination of their academic program, and to monitor progress
toward completion of their degrees. The academic counselors provide
personal, one-to-one advisement to help students with the many choices
and decisions they face in college.
We would
like to encourage all new and continuing students to contact the
Academic Counseling Center with any questions or concerns. We are
here to help!
