The Relationship Between Long Island University and Kyonggi University

In 1992, Kyonggi University embarked upon an ambitious program to increase its international focus, and hone the skills of its professors and students through international exchange. Noting Long Island University's track record and strong ties to Korea, Dr. Jong-Kook Sohn, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Kyonggi, and the university's president, Dr. No-woo Park, strongly supported the idea of establishing a sister relationship between the two universities. After they met with President Steinberg and toured the C.W. Post Campus in January 1993, the idea was formalized with an agreement which focuses on:

  • International exchange of faculty and students;
  • Development of a joint venture toward a School of
  • Visual and Performing Arts in Seoul;
  • Development of a joint venture toward the establishment of a Marine Science Institute in Seoul.
