Honoree-
Thomas A. Brancati

Thomas A. Brancati, graduated in 1964 with bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Mitchel College, C.W. Post’s former campus at Mitchel Field in Uniondale, Long Island. Mr. Brancati’s distinguished career includes serving as president of an Allied-Signal corporation subsidiary; executive vice president for Teledyne Systems Company and F-14 program director, vice president of Middle East operations and president of Grumman Iran Ltd. for the Grumman Corporation. He also has held various senior engineering and management leadership positions, both in the United States and internationally for Grumman/U.S. Navy EA-6B and F-14 aircraft.

In 1987, Mr. Brancati joined Whittaker Corporation as president, electronic systems division, serving the government electronics market place. He initiated a defense technology conversion program, guiding the company into commercial communications, expanding upon its aerospace, industrial and defense electronics systems business. In 1993, he became the firm’s president and chief operating officer, growing its business by leading the development of a network access switch based on Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) technology. In January 1995, he was named chief executive officer, leading an international work force of 1,500 employees. Mr. Brancati co-founded California Preferred Providers Group, Inc., in 1998, and served as chief executive officer until his retirement in 2000. Today, he is the president of Brancati Associates, a consulting firm.

Mr. Brancati was appointed a member of the Naval Research Advisory Committee in 1994 and has served on various defense study and advisory groups for the Defense Systems Management College, the Defense Science Board and the Air Force Science Board. He is the recipient of numerous awards and honors including the 1993 Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation’s Entrepreneurship Award, and the 1995 C.W. Post Distinguished Alumnus Award. He and his wife, Patty, have four daughters, Deborah, Donna, Doreen and Deirdre.
