Steven Kumble
 Steven
J. Kumble, an accomplished attorney and investment banker was educated
at Yale University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and graduated
magna cum laude in 1954. He went on to earn his doctor of jurisprudence
degree at Harvard University Law School in 1959 and was admitted
to the New York State Bar the following year. In 1968, he became
a founding partner of Finley, Kumble, Wagner, Underberg, Manley
& Casey, where for nearly two decades he specialized in corporate
law. During the early 80s, Mr. Kumble formed Lincolnshire
Management, Inc., a private investment firm. He currently serves
as the firms chairman.
His association with the University began in 1983, when he joined
the board of trustees. Chairing the first and third phases of the
Universitys 10-year fund raising campaign, A Decade
to Build, he played an integral role in exceeding the campaigns
initial goal by more than $10 million.
Mr. Kumble is currently secretary of the board, has co-chaired
the Development committee and has served as a member of the Executive,
Compensation, Conflict of Interest, Honorary Degree and Nominating
committees. He received an honorary doctorate from the C.W. Post
Campus of Long Island University in 1990. In 1993, the student services
building at Post was named Kumble Hall in recognition of his generosity
and leadership. He recently pledged $1 million to name the Steven
and Peggy Kumble Theater on the Brooklyn Campus.
Mr. Kumble serves as chairman emeritus of the Governors Committee
on Scholastic Achievement and as a member of the advisory board
of the Rand Institute for Civil Justice. His professional achievements
have earned him mention in Whos Who in America and Whos
Who in the East. He and his wife, Peggy, have two sons, Todd and
Roger, as well as two granddaughters, Jacqueline and Lindsay.
