Honoree-
Ronald J. Sylvestri

Ron Sylvestri earned his B.A. in business administration from the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in 1966. He credits his college education with providing him with the foundation of knowledge he needed to succeed in playing a leading role in business and the community.

His impressive career includes serving as a vice president of D.B.G. and Barclays Bank of New York. He also has served as vice president of institutional sales for Fleet Asset Management Group, a subsidiary of FleetBoston Financial Group. Currently he is senior vice president, Hudson Valley Bank.

Although Mr. Sylvestri is a busy financial services executive, he has remained involved with the University for more than 30 years, making tremendous contributions of his time and expertise to the C.W. Post Campus, the regional campuses and the institution as a whole. He served as C.W. Post alumni president from 1970-1975, when he joined the University’s board of trustees. In 1985, he became a vice chairman of the board. In addition, he has served as chairman of the Student Affairs committee; as a member of the Executive Board; and sits on the Budget and Finance, Buildings and Grounds, Compensation, Conflict of Interest and University Relations committees. In 1993, he was appointed chair of the Council of Overseers for the Rockland Graduate Campus. Two years later, he became chancellor of the University’s three regional campuses in Brentwood, Long Island and in Rockland and Westchester Counties. His deep commitment to the institution is a reflection of his strong belief in the University’s mission — to provide access to quality higher education for students from all walks of life. He is the recipient of numerous campus and University awards.

Mr. Sylvestri also donates his time to a wide range of civic, business, community and religious organizations and has been widely recognized for his service. He resides with his wife, Donna, in Bronxville. The couple has two children.
