Robert Pavese
 A
member of the University family for more than 40 years and a key
player on its finance team, Bob Pavese began his career at Long
Island University in 1960. He was hired by Mary M. Lai, then the
director of finance, currently the vice president for finance and
treasurer, to serve as the budget director/insurance manager. He
held this position until 1975, when he was promoted to controller.
After more than 35 years of service, he was again promoted to associate
vice president/controller in 1996.
Through the years, Mr. Pavese has dedicated himself to administering
and reporting the financial activities of the University, ensuring
that they are in compliance with University goals, accepted accounting
principles, government regulations and federal tax laws. In addition,
he has provided financial leadership and guidance in developing
plans to obtain funds from lending agencies to finance capital construction
projects and to provide the detailed reporting required under trust
indentures. He is proud to be an integral part of an institution
whose faculty and staff have the motivation, loyalty and integrity
to provide students with the highest level of instruction and service.
His association with the University is truly a family affair. He
met his wife, Aida, at the Brooklyn Campus. She holds a B.S. and
M.L.S. from the University. The couples two sons both earned
their bachelors degrees at the C.W. Post Campus.
Mr. Pavese earned his B.S. in accounting and his M.A. in educational
administration and accounting from New York University. He is a
member of the National and Eastern Associations of College &
University Business Officers. His literary accomplishments include
authoring a chapter in Harry J. Hartleys, Education
Planning-Programming-Budgeting: A Systems Approach, Prentice
Hall, 1968. Mr. Pavese resides in Commack, New York with his wife
and enjoys jogging, reading, gardening, photography and golf.
