Honoree-
Robert Higgins
 Bob
Higgins was a leader on and off the field during his undergraduate
days at the C.W. Post Campus. He played varsity football and baseball,
winning distinction as Athlete of the Year in 1965. He also served
as president of Kappa Delta Rho fraternity and as a member of the
student government association. Though many years have passed, his
passion for his alma mater remains undimmed. Today, he is president
of the alumni association and co-founder of the Pioneer Club, C.W.
Posts booster organization.
Straight out of college, Mr. Higgins signed a pro-football contract
with the New York Jets; he later was under contract with the Atlanta
Falcons and the New York Giants. He also was involved with the development
of Monsantos AstroTurf playing surface. Mr. Higgins then branched
out into real estate, becoming a partner in Herald Realty. Among
his other professional endeavors, he is president of University
Childcare Corp., which runs the day-care facility at the Campus.
This important affiliation creates yet another tie between Mr. Higgins
and his beloved C.W. Post.
The Campus recognized Mr. Higgins achievements and contributions
by inducting him into the C.W. Post Football Hall of Fame and presenting
him with the Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1987. C.W. Post is near
and dear to his heart for one more very special reason it
was there that he met Judy Rosenberg P65, a C.W. Post cheerleader
who eventually became Mrs. Robert Higgins. The couple has three
children and two grandchildren.
