Morrell Michael Avram
 Dr.
Morrell Michael Avram is one of the Brooklyn Campus most outstanding
alumni, and one of Southampton Colleges most loyal supporters.
With homes in both Brooklyn and Southampton, he and his wife, Maria,
have had a lasting impact on both campuses. Dr. Avram is a distinguished
medical leader with broad interests in world affairs and cultural
events. After graduating from Brooklyn in 1951, he went on to earn
his M.D. at the University of Geneva. As chief of the Division of
Nephrology at Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn and founding
director of the Avram Center for Kidney Disease, he has helped make
nephrology a clinical specialty. In 1985, he received the Distinguished
Alumnus Award from the Brooklyn Campus, and in 1988, he was awarded
an honorary doctorate by Southampton College. In 1998, Southampton
re-named the 440-seat Fine Arts Theater and Art Galleries for Dr.
Avram and his family as a tribute to their longtime support and
interest in the College and its arts programs.
