Honoree-
Harry E. Stucke

Professor Harry E. Stucke joined the faculty of the School of Business, Public Administration and Information Science on the Brooklyn Campus of Long Island University 40 years ago. Over the past four decades he has witnessed many wonderful changes on the campus. Today, his lectures are filled with a multi-ethnic mix of students, who often are the first in their families to earn a college degree. Although many of them hold down full-time jobs while they attend classes, they possess an incredibly strong desire to learn. It is their dedication that continues to make his teaching experience exciting and worthwhile.

Professor Stucke, who earned his bachelor’s degree from Fordham University and his master’s degree in business administration from New York University, is a recipient of the Long Island University Newton Award for Teaching Excellence. He also was recognized in May 2001, at the Brooklyn Campus commencement exercises, for his 40 years of service, six of which were spent as chair of the Managerial Science Department. In addition to his work at Brooklyn, Professor Stucke was director of the M.B.A. program at the Rockland Campus from 1997-2001.

Professor Stucke has been repeatedly honored for his work in the business community. He is the recipient of the AT&T Best Teacher Award; the Who’s Who in Consulting Award from Cornell University; and a Certificate of Commendation from the City of New York for the development of management programs that have saved more than $100 million since their inception. He is the promoter of numerous conferences on small business, international trade and real estate development. In addition, he is the recipient of a grant that established the Small Business Development Center on the Brooklyn Campus.

Professor Stucke resides with his wife, Heike, in Rego Park. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Brooklyn and her master’s degree from C.W. Post. The couple has two children and five grandchildren
