Honoree-
Gail Allan
 A
radiant smile, a positive attitude, great warmth and diplomatic
tact these are the qualities that have made Gail Allan indispensable
to the University for more than three decades. She began her long
association with the institution when she and her husband, the late
Reverend W. Cameron Allan, and their three sons moved to Long Island.
Ms. Allan had been engrossed with raising her family and playing
the often demanding yet extremely fulfilling role of a ministers
wife. In 1970, the need for a part-time job turned into a career
that has spanned more than 31 years, when she was hired by C.W.
Post to work in the Biology department, eventually becoming a full-time
assistant to the dean.
In 1985, Ms. Allan applied for the secretarial position that was
to support the new University president, Dr. David J. Steinberg.
She has been with him ever since, and today serves as his executive
assistant. While balancing the multitude of duties that come with
the territory, in addition to being a devoted mother and wife, she
earned her B.A. and M.A. in history, in 1986 and 1993 respectively,
from the C.W. Post Campus. Ms. Allan has witnessed many changes
in the institution during her time at the University, yet she remains
a calm and constant voice of reason, performing her duties with
great enthusiasm and tremendous patience. She knows everyone in
the University realm, from campus groundskeepers to members of the
board of trustees and equally enjoys interacting with all of them.
When she is not working, Ms. Allan can be found gardening, driving
around in her convertible, swimming with sting rays in the Cayman
Islands and trekking through the worlds fascinating places.
She is grateful for the education that she and her three sons Robert,
Gordon, and David, all graduates of C.W. Post, received from the
University. In return, the University is grateful for her profound
professionalism.
