Honoree-
Frank Castagna

Frank Castagna is celebrating his fiftieth anniversary in the development and management of real estate properties. His company, Castagna Realty, celebrating its 80th year, was founded by his father Ferdinand Castagna. The Castagna Companies has developed over 150 public buildings and complexes on Long Island, in the metropolitan area and New England, helping to shape the communities it has touched. Mr. Castagna’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life in Nassau County resulted in a 20-year plus association with Long Island University. For nine years, he served as chairman of the Council of Overseers for the Rose and Gilbert Tilles Center for the Performing Arts, collaborating with the Tilles family to fulfill the vision of a great cultural arts center on Long Island. Today, he continues this work as chairman emeritus of the Council. His company’s flagship property, Americana Manhasset, has been the exclusive corporate sponsor of the Center’s annual subscription campaign since 1987. Among his other philanthropic ventures, Mr. Castagna is the president of the board of trustees of the Nassau County Museum of Art and serves on the board of directors of both Old Westbury Gardens and the Anti Defamation League.

A graduate of Widener University, Mr. Castagna holds a B.S. in civil engineering and received an honorary doctorate from Long Island University in 1994. He and his wife, Rita, share a lifelong dedication to their community and have devoted much of their time and energy to supporting such programs. The Castagnas have a son, Fred, and a daughter, Catherine, a graduate of Wheaton College. Rita and Catherine are both active partners in the operation of their companies and the oversight of their work with numerous charities.
