Charles H. Zwicker
 Now
approaching 90 years of age, Charles H. Zwicker, professor and dean
emeritus of the School of Professional Accountancy at the C.W. Post
Campus, has touched the lives of thousands of students over the
course of his 27-year association with Long Island University. Many
of his protégés still visit him regularly, no doubt
realizing the impact of his teachings and advisement. Their successes
have their roots with Mr. Zwicker.
Born in New York City in 1912, Professor Zwicker earned his B.A.
and M.B.A. from New York University; he is also a C.P.A. in the
State of New York. His professional acumen led to various prestigious
positions. He was director of First National Bank of Long Island
and served on the National Advisory Council for the Center for the
Study of the Presidency. A founding partner in the CPA firm, Zwicker
& Simon, he also was a research professor of economics at Teiko
Post University. His work is documented in 23 book reviews and nine
published monographs as well as chapters written for technical books.
Professor Zwicker believes that his University experiences colored
every moment of his personal and professional growth. He established
the first autonomous school of professional accountancy in the United
States at C.W. Post in addition to creating its tax institute.
His accomplishments both on campus and in the corporate community
have repeatedly been recognized. Professor Zwickers portrait
hangs in the Tax Library of the School of Professional Accountancy.
In addition, its lobby was named in his honor. He also has received
citations from both the Internal Revenue Service and Adelphi University.
Professor Zwicker resides in Southbury, Connecticut with his wife,
Mildred. They have two sons. He expresses hope that the University
will continue to gain national respect. It certainly received a
jumpstart from the efforts of such a dedicated member of its academic
community.The following honorees were unable to join us on December
6th. Wed like to take this opportunity to salute their personal
achievements as well as the considerable contributions they have
made to the University community.
