Arthur I. Goldberg
 Arthur
Goldberg received his B.S. from Long Island Universitys Brooklyn
College of Pharmacy in 1953, embarking on a long and varied career
encompassing both the humanities and the sciences. Upongraduation,
Mr. Goldberg spent three years in the U.S. Navy, graduating from
U.S. Navy Officers Candidate School, and serving as CIC officer
on the battleship New Jersey and as a cryptographer on the staff
of the commander in chief of the Atlantic Fleet. After being discharged
from the military, he pursued additional study at New York Universitys
School of Law, earning his LL.B. in 1959 and his LL.M. in 1962.
A founding partner in the Garden City law firm, Jacobson and Goldberg,
LLP, Mr. Goldberg is a member of the American Society of Law and
Medicine, and the American, New York and Nassau County Bar Associations.
He also is a member and former president of the Nassau County Magistrates
Association.
Amidst his myriad professional commitments, Mr. Goldberg remains
connected to his undergraduate alma mater. He joined the Universitys
board of trustees in 1993 and now serves on the Academic Affairs
and Buildings and Grounds committees. In addition, he is a member
and former chairman of the Arnold & Marie Schwartz College of
Pharmacy and Health Sciences Council of Overseers. Mr. Goldberg
also is an author, lecturer and moderator for continuing education
programs in health care law for the University. In recognition of
his professional success, as well as his devotion to the institution,
the College presented him with a Distinguished Alumnus Award in
1990.
Mr. Goldberg is a past president of Temple Beth Shalom in Roslyn
Heights, NY and a former trustee of the Nassau County Science Museum.
He and his wife, Judith, reside in East Hills, New York, where he
has served as village justice since 1969. The Goldbergs have three
grown sons, Jacob, Daniel and Adam.
