Island University's 75th Anniversary Dinner
Long Island University's 75th Anniversary Dinner
was held on Thursday, December 6, 2001, at the Brooklyn Mariott.
The evening was a resounding success! Seventy-five individuals and
families, representing the best of all those connected with the
University, were honored. (List of honorees)
The dinner included a candle-lighting ceremony with music from the
Long Island University singers.
Proceeds from the dinner will now establish Endowed Scholarships,
in honor of four Long Island University students who died tragically
on September 11th. Additional scholarships to assist current Long
Island University students who may have emergency financial aid
needs because of the loss of a spouse or parent on September 11th
will also be created. Together, these scholarships will be part
of our effort to participate in the rebuilding process for our nation,
helping to restore the human and intellectual capital so painfully
lost in the terrorist attacks. Click
