| The Xerox Major Account Rental Contract
covers all convenience copiers within the University.
This contract started in 1994 and, although the contractor
may change, the essentials of the contract remain the same
and state that:
- All copiers within the University are changed every five
years
- Everyone pays the same cost per copy
- All service and supplies are included
- Contractor agrees to keep all equipment operational or
it is replaced with a like for like piece of equipment that
is operational.
There are four copier models on the contract. When the contract
is re-negotiated, each department's copier model may change
since the copier model is contingent with the amount of copies
that are made per month and the specific requirements of each
department.
All the copiers on this contract have basic options and are
not fast with respect to industry standards. This is a convenience
copier contract, most of the departmental copying must be
sent to Office Services. The University has invested in setting
up three major high reproduction copy centers. If large heavy
duty copy machines become part of this convenience contract
then the copy volume that feeds Office Services and supports
the purchase of this equipment would diminish.
Using Office Services is your best copying option because
they do not charge a per copy fee.
Departments, however, that do not currently have a convenience
copier or have access to a convenience copier and want to
become part of this agreement must contact the Purchasing
Department. There are several models that can be chosen but
the Department must meet the minimum per month copy requirements.
