University Honors Program
Is the LIU Brooklyn Campus Honors Program Right for You?
Since 1965, the University Honors Program has been nurturing critical and independent thinkers at the LIU Brooklyn campus. Our curriculum is designed to provide students enrolled in all majors with the strong communication, writing and analytical skills necessary to succeed in a complex world. The Program offers a small liberal arts college experience within the context of a larger university setting, featuring small classes, a high level of student-faculty interaction and an emphasis on experiential education. Drawing on the wealth of resources that exist throughout New York City, students integrate their classroom experience with the extensive cultural, social and economic opportunities available throughout the metropolitan area. As a member of the Honors community, you’ll have opportunities to participate in various cultural events, including attending dance, music and theater productions; engaging in professional development activities such as presenting work at national conferences; and learning about the world through short-term travel courses. Many Honors students enhance their education through internships, volunteer placements and original research projects which serve as invaluable preparation for future leadership roles. Graduates of the University Honors Program typically go on to pursue graduate or professional degrees, or to attain management positions in the corporate and non-profit arenas.
Admission to the Honors Program requires a strong record of academic achievement, submission of a short writing sample and participation in an interview.
