Undergraduate Scholarships & Grants

These scholarships cannot be combined and are awarded to students who meet all eligibility requirements. No separate application is required. These awards are for full-time students only.  Please contact the admissions office at 631-287-8500 for information regarding scholarships for part-time study.

LIU PRESIDENT'S AWARD

This scholarship offers $15,000 per year to students with a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher from their prior degree-granting institution. Students must maintain a 3.00 cumulative grade point average to continue receiving this award.

LIU SCHOLARS AWARD

This award offers $10,000 per year to students with a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 to 3.49 from their prior degree-granting institution. Students must maintain a 3.00 cumulative grade point average to continue receiving this award.

LIU MERIT AWARD

This award offers $8,000 per year to students with a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 to 2.99 from their prior degree-granting institution. Students must maintain a 3.00 cumulative grade point average to continue receiving this award.

LIU ASSOCIATES DEGREE AWARD

This award offers $3,000 per year to students who have earned an Associates Degree and have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher. This scholarship may be combined with GPA academic awards listed above.

LIU ACCESS GRANT

This grant is available to full-time undergraduate students. Award amounts vary based on a student's financial need.

SUFFOLK COUNTY EMPLOYEE TUITION DISCOUNT SCHOLARSHIP

One-third tuition discount to all employees of the County of Suffolk. A one-third tuition discount is also available to spouses and dependent children of Suffolk County employees for their first 6 credits of attendance. This award may not be combined with any other University awards. Employee verification form must be submitted to the Office of Financial Aid prior to each semester of eligibility. Restrictions apply.

APPLY FOR FAFSA

Apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov using our Federal school code of 002751. Contact the Student Financial Services Office at 631-287-8500 or Brentwood-FinAid@liu.edu for assistance with completing your FAFSA. LIU Post offers free College Affordability Workshops several times each year to assist students with filing their FAFSA forms. Please call us for details.

New and continuing students must submit a FAFSA each year by Feb.15 or your financial aid package may be reduced or cancelled, based on the availability of funds.

The Office of Financial Aid administers federal and state aid programs to qualified students. Funds are available through a variety of sources, including the United States Department of Education and the New York State Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC). Direct loans are available to all U.S. citizens, permanent residents or eligible noncitizens regardless of need, however, they require repayment. In order to process any forms of financial aid including scholarships and grants, you must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). For New York State aid, you must file a separate Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) application.
