About the Program
The B.S. in Childhood Education qualifies students for initial New York State Teaching Certification in childhood level grades 1 through 6, and prepares them for entry-level teaching positions or to pursue graduate-level work in education.
Steeped in the liberal arts and sciences, the rigorous curriculum encourages intellectual pursuit and promotes academic excellence. Students explore a variety of early educational curricula and the latest discoveries and trends in early childhood education and psychology. They also examine technological innovations in education and social and cultural impacts on teaching and learning.
Integral to the program is its outstanding hands-on training in a variety of educational settings. All students must spend a semester applying their knowledge and skills, in two separate seven-week student teaching experiences.
