Graduate Education Programs
Teacher Education programs at LIU Riverhead include the M.S. in Literacy Education (Birth to Grade 6), the M.S. in Teaching Students with Disabilities (Grades 1 to 6) and the M.S. in Teaching Students with Disabilities Generalist (Grades 7 to 12), for teachers with initial certification who are pursuing a master's degree for professional certification. The M.S. in Childhood Education (Grades 1 to 6) is designed for the career-changer who has a bachelor's degree in a subject other than teacher education (such as math, science or English, for example) and wishes to become a teacher at the elementary school level. The 24-credit graduate Advanced Certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis is designed for teachers of children with autism or other disabilities who seek certification in this increasingly prominent specialization. The 22-credit graduate Advanced Certificate in TESOL (All Grades) prepares teachers to help children in all grades overcome language barriers and learn how to speak the English language effectively.
