LIU's New Riverhead Location to Host Open House Wednesday, Aug. 9

Riverhead, N.Y. – The public is invited to meet faculty and admissions counselors and learn about the graduate-level courses to be offered at LIU's new Riverhead location at an open house on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Located on the Eastern Campus of Suffolk County Community College at 121 Speonk-Riverhead Road, the Riverhead site brings courses from Long Island University master's degrees within easy reach of central Suffolk County and Long Island's north and south forks.
Courses from master's degree programs in Childhood Education, Teaching Students with Disabilities, Literacy Education and Public Administration will be offered at the Riverhead site.
The Riverhead location also will be the new home of the University's Homeland Security Management Institute. Courses in the institute's groundbreaking, online Master of Science in Homeland Security Management begin in September. The institute also offers an online, 15-credit advanced certificate in Homeland Security Management.
The master's degree in Homeland Security Management is the first of its kind in New York State and one of the first in the nation. Long Island University's Master of Public Administration programs are the only ones on Long Island accredited by the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration. The University's well-established master's programs in education are widely respected throughout the New York metropolitan area.
