Brooke D. Fidler

Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice, Full-time

Pharm.D., University of Rhode Island College of PharmacyPharmacy Practice Residency, University of Rhode Island

Dr. Brooke Fidler joined the faculty of LIU Pharmacy in 2000 as assistant professor of pharmacy practice. In 1999 She completed a Pharm.D. at the University of Rhode Island (URI) and went on to complete a pharmacy practice residency at URI the following year. The residency focused on working at a community drug information center, where she provided drug information to consumers, community pharmacists and other health care providers. Dr. Fidler also spent that year working in a physician's office staffed by internists, physician assistants and nurse practitioners. She had private consultations in the office with patients and provided medication education to the staff.

Currently her focus is on clinical community practices where she hopes to help educate students and patients on the changing role of the community pharmacist. At her practice site with Duane Reade Pharmacy in Manhattan, her students counsel patients on prescription medications, recommend appropriate nonprescription products and home testing devices, take blood pressures and counsel on non-pharmacological treatment measures for various disease states.

Along with her students, Dr. Fidler provides ongoing health awareness presentations to the employees of the Federal Reserves Bank of New York.  From 2001 to 2004, Dr. Fidler was the residency director and coordinator of the first community pharmacy practice residency program in the New York metropolitan area. Dr. Fidler is a regular author for Drug Store News, a publication that provides continuing education with a focus on community pharmacy-related topics.

Dr. Fidler resides in New Jersey with her husband, daughter and son.
