Description
DR. KENZA E. BENZEROUAL is an assistant professor of pharmacology. Prior to joining the faculty of the College of Pharmacy, Dr. Benzeroual was a research scientist and a National Research Service Award postdoctoral fellow at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University in New York, where she was involved in projects in areas ranging from applied proteomics, genomics and bioinformatics to fetal brain metabolism and brain disorders. She earned a Ph.D. in pharmacology at the University of Montreal, Medical College (Canada). As a graduate student, Dr. Benzeroual conducted research on diabetes, especially on insulin signaling in liver cells, and received numerous academic and research awards. She is also a member of the New York Academy of Sciences, American Association for the Advancement of Science, and American Society of Pharmacology and Therapeutics. Dr. Benzeroual received a B.S. in biochemistry/molecular biology and an M.S. in biochemistry/Industrial chemistry from Paul Sabatier University (Toulouse, France).
Her primary areas of interest include genomics and its application to neuroscience, drug metabolism, and cancer research. Her research has led to several publications and presentations at national and international meetings.
