Tier I: Core Courses (12 credits)

Before moving on to Tier II, students must demonstrate proficiency in the following ways:

  • Maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Passing the Liberal Arts and Science Test (LAST) and Content Specialty Test (CST) in each area of certification
  • Demonstrating competence in writing

Tier II: Methods Courses (13 credits)

  • Pass the Assessment of Teaching Skills Written (ATS-W)
  • Demonstrate competency in writing

Tier III: Field Experience (6 credits)

TED 745 Field Experience in Middle Childhood/Adolescence Education (2 cr.)
TED 750 Seminar and Student Teaching in Middle Childhood/Adolescence Education or
TED 751 Seminar and Supervised Teaching in Middle Childhood/Adolescence Education (4 cr.)
