Rockland Graduate Campus to Host Open House Wednesday, January 7

Workshops on becoming certified as a teacher or licensed as a mental health counselor and information on academic programs, admission and financial aid will be offered at the Rockland Graduate Campus of Long Island University Open House on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. In case of inclement weather, the Open House will be held on Thursday, Jan. 8.

The $30 application fee to the Rockland Graduate Campus will be waived for people who attend the Open House. Directors of academic programs, admissions and financial aid will be available to answer questions. A teacher certification process workshop will be held at 4:30 p.m. and a workshop on mental health counseling licensure will be held at 5 p.m. Both workshops are free.

The Rockland Graduate Campus offers master's degrees and advanced certificates in business administration, education, health administration, public administration, gerontology, mental health counseling, school counseling and school and district leadership. New programs include the Master of Science in education with a specialization in adolescence education (grades 7-12) designed for career-changers looking to become certified teachers, and the Master of Science in special education with a concentration in autism.

The Rockland Graduate Campus provides a quality education to working professionals. The small campus setting features faculty members who are experts in their fields, a low student-to-faculty ratio and an excellent career and academic advising. Courses are offered in the late afternoons, evenings and on weekends to afford working students an opportunity to balance their educational objectives with family and business demands.
