Open House Set for Aug. 20 at Rockland Graduate Campus of Long Island University

Orangeburg, NY. — A three-credit summer institute, “Diagnosis and Treatment of Autism and Related Disorders,” will be offered at the Rockland Graduate Campus of Long Island University on Route 340 in Orangeburg from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. August 6 through 10, 2007.
Designed for special education teachers and administrators, pre-service teachers seeking certification and adult service providers, the course will cover the methodology for early diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder, how to identify and respond to specific learning difficulties, applied behavior analysis and multimodal approaches.
The course will be taught by Dr. Mary Jean Marsico, assistant superintendent for special student services at Rockland BOCES. It carries three graduate-level credits that can be applied to Long Island University master's degree programs.
