B.A. in Communication Studies - New Media
Upper division transfer program for students with Associate Degree or equivalent number of credits
In today’s world, the ability to clearly and effectively communicate is an essential skill in every profession and graduate academic discipline. In order to meet the growing need for effective 21st century communicators, LIU Riverhead offers the upper division Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies – New Media. This 62-credit interdisciplinary program brings forth an advanced writing and communication curriculum designed to ensure that graduates are prepared to effectively communicate in a global society. Students will master the art of communicating through writing, the spoken word, and the rapidly expanding area of new and emerging media. LIU Riverhead intends to offer a portion of this program in a blended or fully-online format.
The upper division B.A. in Communication Studies – New Media is open to students who hold associate degrees or have 60 credits (freshman and sophomore years) of a liberal arts-based college degree program. Students with an associate degree from Suffolk County Community College may seamlessly transfer into the program. Students transferring from other colleges will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, and may be required to complete additional specific course work. Students complete their freshman and sophomore years at a community college or four-year college and their junior and senior years at Long Island University in Riverhead, N.Y.
