M.A. in Digital Game Design and Development
The Digital Game Design & Development Program at LIU Post offers a project-based curriculum that allows students to focus on developing skills in computer programming, art/graphics or interface/content development while collaborating with others in the cohort on large-scale team projects. In addition to game development, the program stresses the following elements essential to success in the industry: storyboarding, paper prototyping, usability testing, and project management. Students will be taught how to write grant proposals and approach venture capital to support their work and encouraged to collaborate with business faculty on marketing and disseminating their thesis projects.

Working with University of Washington physicians, Dr. Carrie Rouse and Dr. Dilys Walker, we are modifying the Emergency Birth Game to train midwives in rural Mexico.
Career Opportunities
New York State has one of the largest concentrations of entertainment software companies, according to the Entertainment Software Association. According to Eduventures, game design occupations in New York City are projected to grow at approximately 11% through 2015. There are numerous gaming companies located in the University’s vicinity. Graduates will be ready for positions as Game Designers, Game Programmers, Interactive Multimedia Producers, 3D Animation Artists, Computer Software Engineers, among others.
