B.S. in Health Science

Health Sciences StudentThe 128-credit B.S. in Health Science is a unique interdisciplinary program that provides students with a strong foundation in the basic sciences, wellness, and health. The Health Science program is designed to:

1) Prepare students for entry-level positions into the health field within such settings as hospitals, health and wellness facilities, community settings, etc.
2) Offer two accelerated tracks for students seeking admission into either the Master of Public Health (MPH) or Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program at LIU Brooklyn
3) Prepare students for health profession programs, such as Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Respiratory Care and Diagnostic Medical Sonography, graduate study or medical school
4) Address the needs of a number of health fields that require bachelor preparation for employment



Academic Requirements

To be admitted to this program you must:

  • Submit an application to the Office of Admissions
  • Have an overall high school average of 80% or better and submit an official high school transcript
  • Transfer students must present an overall grade-point average (GPA) of at least 2.0. Students with an Associate's degree or transfer students are encouraged to apply.

Health Science Program Requirements

Continued enrollment in this program is contingent upon:

  • Maintaining at least a 2.0 overall GPA
  • Maintaining a minimum Health Science GPA of 2.5
  • Earning a grade of "C" or better in each Health Science course
  • Fulfilling all practicum experience clearance requirements prior to the beginning of each practicum course
