LIU Global offers a four-week summer session in Heredia, Costa Rica that allows students the opportunity to earn six credits toward their undergraduate degree. During the month long stay, students are immersed in the language and culture, combining coursework at the Costa Rica Center field experiences to different parts of the country. Students take a 3-credit intensive Spanish course and live with a Costa Rican family where they practice the language, learn about the culture and make new friends. Students take another 3-credit course that includes both seminars and field trips to different areas within Costa Rica. This allows students to gain an appreciation for the cultural and ecological diversity of the country, as well as an opportunity to see and explore concrete examples of academic issues experientially. In this way, students gain a much more intimate and real life understanding of these issues and concepts.
