LIU Global's semester-long South Africa program immerses students in the cities and villages of the country that is on the vanguard of the New Africa. Shaped by the struggle against apartheid, South Africa is now on the cutting edge of global development. All classes take place on the Howard College campus of the University of Kwazulu-Natal. You’ll live in a comfortable and cosmopolitan environment in the dorms of the Howard College Campus. Your independent study and internship options will include opportunities in education, health, arts and community development.
The program is located in Durban, a vibrant coastal city renowned for its beaches and coastal resorts. The city is also a major South African port. The magnificent game reserves and estuaries of Maputaland, north of Durban, are a favorite getaway for staff and students alike. The campus is situated in a successful environmental conservancy and the lush gardens of the University reflect a commitment to indigenous flora and fauna.
Coursework will include: Introduction to African Studies, Theories of Development in an African Context, Zulu Language, Independent Research Seminar and Internship.
