Shanti Vidya was born in Ecuador. She continued her studies in Costa Rica and worked in rural development projects for a few years in Costa Rica and Africa. She was a part of the Friends World Program, where she held various positions, including academic coordinator, student affairs coordinator and co-director. She also taught the following courses at Friends World: Senior Seminar, Junior Seminar, Central American Reality and Research Seminar. Now as an LIU Global professor, she teaches the Introductory Yearly Seminar, Peace and Conflict Resolution and Holistic Health and Culture Seminar.
Shanti has been active as a volunteer for the Peace Academy of Costa Rica, participating as a trainer for a peace program in public primary schools in Santa Ana, Costa Rica.
Shanti enjoys meditation, tai chi and yoga and is a certified yoga instructor.
